Week 7: Schnitzel is always a good idea for ideation

At the last meeting in Milab we were given 2 tasks that were supposed to help us think outside the box and pinpoint our solution.

The first task we were given was called "Copy From The Best", its purpose is to see what the values are in the apps we like and think about how we can implement those values in our app. We were asked to choose unique applications in their field, which manage to meet the need that they are trying to solve in a better and more prominent way compared to other competing applications. Need to learn from the good ones right?

As usual we gathered around Liad's iPad to draw a circle of associations. Each member of

the group threw into the air the app he would like us to analyze, which was usually the app he liked and used the most.

The selected apps are Shazam, Wise and Netflix. The values we found and contributed to us in formulating the application are certainty, choice, accessibility, sharing and more.

After this we moved on to the second task called "The Perfect Assistant". its purpose is to identify key points that may be reflected in our solution. As part of the task we had to think of an assistant who is omnipotent. The assistant accompanies our persona during the day and helps her solve the various difficulties she experiences or directs her environment in a way that will facilitate and prevent her from unpleasant situations.

Although the natural tendency of the human mind is to think of practical solutions in this task we should have avoided this kind of fixative thinking. We are told that it is important to sail in the imagination and think of creative solutions, such that will not necessarily be possible to implement in reality.

Thanks to the freedom of thought we were given we were able to come up with fictional / creative ideas, one of which was to allow the persona to read the thoughts of her environment. Through this proposal the teens would be exposed to negative emotions and feelings that their friends do not share. We decided to give expression to this principle of transparency in the app.

We would like to end with a conclusion that describes the fascinating thought process we went through and I believe that will accompany each of us also in the future -

“Do not think outside the box think like there is no box"

Waiting to update on the next challenge and till then goodbye 🙌🏻
